I love this time of year! The weather in the northeast is starting to shift and we are busy helping sellers get ready for their photoshoots. And, one of my favorite way to help our clients create a gorgeous welcome to their house and beautiful backyard style is, of course, through the addition of outdoor pillows.
Before we dive into that, let's just take a minute to enjoy the sheer beauty of this backyard space created by the super talented Mark D. Sikes, shall we? Beyond inspiring, right?
Just like interiors, throw pillows are the quickest, easiest and least expensive way to spruce up the feeling of even the humblest cement porch. They are also easy to take on to the next house for our clients to begin to instantly make their next house feel like home.
And today, there are so many great resources for buying a wide range of styles and price points depending on your aesthetic and budget. I'm loving seeing the styles that bring indoor style to the outdoors whether your style is traditional, mid-century, bohemian or preppy.
But there are some things that you need to know before you purchase pillows for outside so that you don't end up with faded, sad pillows partway through the summer season.
You want to look for pillows and covers that are meant to go outside and are:
- waterproof/ water resistant/or water repellent
- mildew and mold resistant
- fade proof or resistant
- easy to clean
- made with inserts that are also meant to live outside
And to take the guesswork out of it, here are 24 of my favorite looks for outdoor pillows (click the image to reveal the shopping links):
