One of the ways that I create stunning focal points for online listing photos is through gallery walls. But, the way that you create gallery walls for staging is a little different than how you would create one if you are decorating for a dwelling. Here is some guidance for creating a gallery wall that sells your house fast!
Tips for Creating Gallery Walls
No Family Photos
I hate to start on a negative note here and I know that your family is beautiful and awesome, but I think that it is super important to put buyers at ease and get them thinking in terms of themselves rather than about the people that are living in the house currently. Some people believe that you can leave family photos around. I'm not one of them.
Use Larger Scaled Art
Here is an example of a nicely decorated bedroom, but the art over the bed is far too small to have any kind of visual impact for the purposes of Staging and photographing for your online listing. For Staging, I always say go big!
The fix could be one larger scaled piece of art that will jump off the page (remember the length of the art should be at least 50%-95% of the piece of furniture it is over). Or, a grouping of 4-20″ x 20″ pieces of art stacked in two rows of two. This will draw attention to the photo and show off the height of the ceiling. Here is a nice example of what I mean:
Arrange Art in Symmetrical Groupings
Humans are visual creatures and one thing that we respond to in our environment is symmetry. It has been studied and shown time and time again that humans find beauty in symmetry. So, I say, let's take advantage of our human nature when we Stage our houses. Creating symmetrical groupings is a lot easier on the eye and less cluttering for your online photos.
I like to use art that is at least 20″ x 20″ in these groupings and either have a similar motif or even are the same. Here are some nice examples of how to create a gallery wall that is effective for Staging:
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition
Whatever item you use, whether it is art, mirrors or something else, repeating it is very effective in creating visual harmony. Here are some wonderful examples of how you can use non-art items to create a gallery wall that sells!
Give these tips a try and let me know if they work for you!
